We have been contracted to work in partnership with Autism Plus to run a project called ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ providing respite care for children and young people with Autism. We are looking to recruit volunteers to assist with the running of this project.
The project is due to run until March 2011.
Holiday Club
As a volunteer in this role you will help support children with Autism or additional needs at a school holiday farming club run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-3pm. You will support children in participating with a wide range of hands on farming activities. It is essential that you are keen to work with children with Autism or additional needs and desirable that you have some experience in this area. You may attend on a rota basis so need not commit to every school holiday. Travel expenses are available.
Saturday Farm Club
As a volunteer in this role you will help support children with Autism or additional needs at a Saturday morning farm club from 9.30am to 1.30pm. You will support children in participating with a wide range of hands on farming activities. It is essential that you are keen to work with children with Autism or additional needs and desirable that you have some experience in this area. You may attend on a rota basis so need not commit to every Saturday. Travel expenses are available.

An enhanced CRB check will be required for these roles.
Mini-bus Driver
Can you drive a mini-bus or would you be willing to learn?
Full MIDAS training and testing given. We require mini-bus drivers to collect groups of children from schools around Sheffield to attend the farm for educational sessions and residential stays.
We offer full training as required.
Term-time days to suit. Minimum 1 day commitment.
Education Volunteer
Are you good at talking to children?
If you have a clear informative manner and enjoy working with children why not join our friendly education team. We need enthusiastic people to lead farm tours and deliver our education sessions to groups of schoolchildren of all ages. These sessions include farm tours, natural art and woodland adventure!
We offer full training as required.
Days to suit. Minimum half day commitment.
Handyperson
Are you good with a hammer and a drill?
We are looking for volunteers to help maintain the fabric of the farm and mend gates, fences, and carry out simple DIY tasks.
Hours to suit.
Administrative Assistant
Do you have a high standard of office skills?
We are looking for volunteers to help support our office staff in fundraising, events organisation and finance. Office skills essential.
We offer full training as required.
Hours and days to suit.
Gardener
Do you have green fingers and like to work outside in a beautiful setting?
We are looking for gardeners to help maintain our growing areas: tasks include weeding, planting and potting on.
We offer full training as required.
Hours and days to suit.
Weekend Volunteer
Do you have some spare time on your hands at weekends?
Can you spare one Saturday or Sunday a month 10 am to 4pm, on a rota basis, to help in our shop, café or provide guided tours for family groups visiting the farm.

Whirlow Hall Farm Shop and Cafe is looking for Volunteers
Would you like to gain experience in a small cafe and catering kitchen?
Anything from a half day per week to full time.
The Farm Shop opened in 2008 and has established a reputation for selling high quality, locally sourced meat and other produce. We have recently opened a cafe at weekends which sells the famous Whirlow Breakfast and other snacks and light refreshments. We need volunteers to help run both the shop and the cafe. We also need people to use our kitchen to prepare foodstuffs for sale in the shop.
