Ethos
We aim to provide the customer, with locally produced, ethically sourced goods from our own farm, or local producers around Sheffield. We aim to sell high quality meat to a clientele that truly care about where their meat comes from. We are an extremely transparent shop, meaning that you can go and see the pigs and lambs if you wish to see how happy they are and how well they are looked after.
We measure our food miles in metres and all profits from the shop go back into the charity to help teach people about where food actually comes from and the importance of it within society.
About the Farm Shop and Cafe
We are an on-site Farm Shop, meaning that the produce we sell in our shop, comes directly from our own fields. We have a constant supply of sausages, bacon, fresh pork and gammon joints from our very own pigs who live at the top of the lane, and fresh new season lamb from the fields just outside the shop window.
Our beef is hung for 28 days, making it full of flavour and extremely tender. We only sell our own beef, from our own fields, and due to popular demand, we recommend that you pre-order what you would like when we have beef coming in.
We sell our very own free range eggs, freshly laid each morning only 40 metres away from the shop. We buy our chickens from a local farmer (just down the lane!) who produces the only ‘Total Freedom’ chicken in Sheffield. The chicken’s wild nature gives them a much more traditional taste and meaty texture.
We also sell locally made jams, pickles, cakes and dairy as well as the 2009 national award winning pork pies, made to a secret recipe by our award winning butcher.
Pick your own
During the summer months (end of June to late September) we grow strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants which can be bought on a pick your own basis through the shop. Our potatoes are harvested by the visiting children in September and October, packed into bags and sold in the shop.
Cafe
Our cafe is situated next to the shop, in our 17th century Cruck Barn. The barn boost original features and a warm and cosy atmosphere, making it an ideal stop on a walk in the Peaks.
We serve famous all day breakfasts as well as lunch time alternatives and a regularly changing specials board.
We use our own sausages, bacon and eggs for the breakfasts in the cafe, and source our bread and dairy products from local suppliers. All our tea and coffee is organic and fair-trade
