We are grateful to The Gilder Group Sheffield for supporting the trust in a unique and innovative way by providing us with a critical farm vehicle!
We are over the moon to have just taken delivery of a brand new Mitsubishi L200, courtesy of local dealer, The Gilder Group.
A 4×4 is critical to the Trust’s operations – at the heart of which is a real working farm on the outskirts of Sheffield. It enables the Trust to move staff, equipment and livestock around the farm’s 138 acres, or further afield.
Mark Tamblyn, of The Gilder Group said ‘We’re delighted to be able to support this fantastic local charity. We know how important a vehicle like the L200 is to them and hope they get good use out of it. It looked great on the Whirlow Hall Farm Trust stand at the Sheffield Food Festival last month – and there should be plenty more opportunities for others to spot it out-and-about the Sheffield area’.
This new vehicle replaces a long-standing arrangement with local Land Rover dealer Guy Salmon. Their iconic Defender was a familiar sight around Whirlow, and was the farm’s workhorse for nearly 4 years.
Chief Executive Ben Davies said: “We are incredibly lucky to be so well supported by local business The Gilder Group. We simply would not be able to operate without a 4×4 – and so I am delighted that The Gilder Group have provided us with a fantastic new vehicle. On behalf of the thousands of youngsters who benefit from visits to the farm each year I need to say a very public ‘thank you’ to them.’
We are proud to have just taken delivery of a chiller van, courtesy of wholesale Fruit and Vegetable merchant GW Price.
GW Price have supported Whirlow Hall Farm Trust for some time – delivering to their kitchen and sponsoring events – so when the Trust’s old chiller van became unreliable, Managing Director John Plant saw another opportunity to get involved.
John said ‘ Sarah Kerrigan, Head of Fundraising at Whirlow Hall Farm trust rang me for some advice. I know how important a reliable chiller van is to them and thought we could do better than that. So I agreed to provide the Trust with a fully maintained, modern chiller van so that they can make the most of everything that is grown on the farm. I know how much youngsters benefit from their time the farm, so am delighted to be able to help further.’
Chief Executive Ben Davies said: “We are incredibly fortunate that GW Price, and John Plant in particular, are so supportive of Whirlow Hall Farm Trust; John even delivered the van in person! It will enable us to make the most of what the farm produces and be a tremendous boost to the butchery that we will open later this summer. That, in turn, will enable us to carry on hosting thousands of youngsters up at the farm each year, and see them develop as a result of the experience. We owe GW Price a huge debt of gratitude.’
