We are often asked…
How do I become a volunteer?
You must be over 16 years of age. All volunteers will normally require two written references and are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS; previously CRB).
Please contact the Education Office on (0114) 2360096 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to ask about volunteering. We can arrange for you to visit the farm to discuss our volunteering opportunities.
Why volunteer at Whirlow Hall Farm Trust?
You get involved in a wonderful learning environment, helping children and young people to appreciate the countryside and farming. There’s a whole range of opportunities for you to experience: you may be looking for career development or may be a retired person wanting to use your skills in a rewarding way. There’s a social aspect to volunteering too! We have over 100 volunteers and enjoy regular training sessions and social evenings.
How much time will I have to offer?
There’s scope for all to get involved. Some volunteers just do a few hours a year, helping with special events, while others come regularly each week for half a day or more. The farm offers a range of choice for you to get involved.
If you want to join in any volunteering activities, call in for a chat.
Finally, you will need to apply and provide references. Our forms are here:
