Whirlow L.I.F.E. (Learning In a Farming Environment)

We play a vital role in supporting children and young people facing a complex combination of difficulties, including medical and mental health conditions, learning needs and disabilities, and heart-breaking personal circumstances.

Whether our students are living with cancer, anxiety, autism or ADHD; overcoming neglect or coping with bereavement, our unique farm provides a safe, nurturing environment that equips them with the tools to learn, grow in confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

"A highly supportive environment for some of the city’s most vulnerable young people."
Sheffield City Council

Secondary High Needs Provision

Whirlow Hall Farm Trust has years of experience working with high needs pupils struggling in mainstream settings due to a complex combination of personal trauma and additional learning needs and disabilities.

We provide a nurturing and supportive environment where pupils will feel safe, be encouraged to explore the issues they face and be helped to develop coping strategies, all whilst becoming an integral and essential part of life on a working farm. Our programme is highly practical and now includes developing cooking skills in our new teaching kitchen, 'The Gateway' as well as a wide range of animal and environmental skills all aimed at building confidence, improving employability, and supporting them through to the next phase of their journey.
