Our Early Intervention symposium made headlines last week.....

The Sheffield Star kick-started its Whirlow campaign with an in-depth article on the Early Intervention symposium that we hosted recently up at the Farm.  There's clearly a great deal of interest in exclusions - they devoted 2 entire pages to the event - unsurprising given Sheffield's position in the various education league tables.  Interestingly, the Council acknowledge that the pressures facing other services - social care for example - might play a significant role in forming the behaviours that result in children being excluded.  We made that very point at the symposium - that this is more than just an education issue, and a more joined-up, long term approach is needed.
