SHU funded intern Joe moves on to industry employment

Intern Joe makes an impact

We are very fortunate to receive great support from both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield through their fully funded internship schemes. In January Joe joined us as a part-time IT project manager. He had recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam and needed a springboard and real workplace experience to enable him to make the step into a graduate role. Joe quickly became a valued member of the Whirlow team and the go-to person for those tricky computer questions! It was not Joe's first time at Whirlow - he had stayed at the farm in our residential Hall as a 7 year old with Pipworth School.  It was so lovely to see him come full circle and return to us as a member of the team.

Joe says 'It was a great experience working at the farm and all the staff were fantastic. My role was getting data ready for a new system being built by local company Arkom. I had several meetings with the company and liaised closely with them. A couple of weeks after my placement ended Arkom contacted me about an upcoming job and I was then offered the role which I accepted. So all I can say is a massive thank you to everyone at the farm.'

Well done Joe, we wish you every success -  you really deserve it! A massive thanks to Sheffield Hallam University and their funders for making it all possible.
